Summer Lookbook, New Studio, Indigo Design

Jill Aiko Yee musician shoot

Hello Friends,

It's been a while since my last newsletter, and there is so much news from my world to share!

New Lookbook

In collaboration with several talented artist friends I put together a lookbook that was featured in Bunch Magazine and on RackedLA.  The models were three LA vocalists that are taking over the indie music scene with their songwriting, performing, and style.  Click the image above to see the entire lookbook.    photo by Matt Sayles

I'm in Love with Unique USA

and will be participating in the next one. I've met so many of you, and had so many wonderful experiences participating in these fairs. The next will be very special: Besides moving to downtown LA (last year's summer show was in Santa Monica), there are two new curated sections in this summer show - The Row and Design LAb.  Come to my booth to see new pieces, one of kinds, and support buying local next month!  For further info, click the image above, it will link you to the Unique USA site.  As soon as I have my booth location, I'll share it on my instagram feed.

Limited Editions on Instagram

This year I've begun to focus on limited edition runs of items in special fabrics, and dye editions.  Each special piece is numbered and labeled.  Because there are as few as 1, 3, or 5 of some of these items, they never make it into my online store.  I post them on instagram and they sell out.  To see the most up to date images of this work with plenty of selfies, please follow me on Instagram
I'm in the process of updating my website and webstore.  The online store is down for now, and will reappear this fall.  In the meantime, if there's anything you love and see on instagram, just email or message me, and I'll send you all the info you need.

   Earlier This Year

So many changes happening here I've had a hard time keeping up and reporting!  Here's the update.....

            Natural Dye Collaboration

Friend Graham Keegan is a master with textiles and natural dyes.  We have been doing a collaboration in which he dyes fabric and I make one of a kind garments with it.  The Co-Lab has featured primarily indigo dye on cotton, but also bougainvillea dyed sheer silk, indigo dyed silk, and indigo dyed wool.  Click the image above for a feature on the work, or see most of the pieces in my instagram feed : here, or search instagram with the hashtag #IndigrahamxIkoCut to see all of the images

Goodbye 1st Studio, Hello New Studio

Iko Cut Studios has moved locations!  After 2 1/2 years at my first location it was time to expand.  Studio partner Claudia and I found a charming new spot just blocks from the first studio.  True to my downtown roots we are now in the Apparel Mart, a 12 story historical fashion district building.  It's filled with fashion vendors, and designers, with favorite hang outs Peace Yoga and Pattern Bar on the ground floor.  Please come say hi!  Make an appointment to shop, and see the new space.  I'll happily take you on a tour of the neighborhood, and the many new businesses coming to downtown Broadway st.

Thank you very much for your continued support through all of the work I've done.  Los Angeles and its creative community is an idea place for growing.  Warmly, Jill
